A little Q & A about...
Q: Will I be asked for a commitment publicly?
A: No. Neither will your individual commitment be announced. It will be kept strictly confidential.
Q: Where will commitments be made?
A: Most commitments will be made in the privacy of your own home. You are encouraged to pray about it and make your commitment at home and return your commitment card to the church during the worship service of our Celebration Sunday, which is March 27.
Q: Why are we trying to raise so much money when our annual budget is so tight?
A: This is a stewardship campaign. We believe that God is moving at Pleasant Grove and for us to be ready for the next assignment He sends us, we need to get out from under the burden of debt that we are carrying.
Q: How much money are we trying to raise?
A: We are currently on a path to pay off our debts within 10 years. Our goal is to pay it off even sooner. Today, we are paying about $250,000 per year for principal and interest payments. The goal is to supplement that with an additional $200,000 from this campaign. With this goal, we would pace ourselves to be able to pay off the debt within 5 years. Or even less time than that if God lays it on the hearts of His people to give more.
Q: When do the commitments start?
A: As soon as you would like. Please make use of the offering envelopes and designate your gift towards our building fund. This campaign will run from now until the end of March, 2012.
Q: How do we make our gifts toward the program?
A: Please use one of the regular offering envelopes and designate on the front that your gift is towards our building fund. You are always encouraged to use the offering envelopes when you make any contributions to the church.
Q: Will God help me meet a commitment which right now seems beyond my means?
A: Absolutely, just as surely as He has promised to help us in any other area of our life.
Q: What happens if we exceed our $200,000 goal for this giving campaign?
A: Hallelujah! To God be the glory.
Q: Can I give toward my commitment once per year, monthly, weekly?
A: Yes. You may give in any of these ways. Most of us find it easier to keep up with if we give in the same frequency as we get paid from our jobs.
Q: Is giving towards the church's debt reduction a tax deductible contribution?
A: Yes. Your gifts will be included on your yearend contribution statement.
Q: Who can I talk to if I have questions?
A: Feel free to discuss any questions with Pastor Phil or Duane Owens.
