This September begins a new church year. Our emphasis this coming year will be Sunday School! I am still convinced that you can grow God's church through the Sunday School! If you are not a part of a Sunday School class, you need to be!
Sunday School is where you truly learn more about the Bible on a more one to one basis. You have fellowship with other believers so you can grow in relationships. sunday School is also the place where you can reach lost people & get them involved.
I trust you will in this coming new church year designate a chair(s) only to be filled with someone your classs reached for Jesus. Just think what could happen if all our classes did this! WOW!
On Friday, August 20, at 6:30 pm, we will have our annual sunday School leadership training. this year, Rev. John sprinkle, Minister of Education at FBC of Indian Trail, NC will be with us to challenge us in our sunday School. He has seen first hand what God can do with a Sunday School that is sold out to our Lord! His wife, Brenda, will be with us to share in song. Mark your calendar for this very important event. We need ALL Sunday School leadership present!
Thank you for your support and cooperation!

Summer is upon us. School is out, vacation time, VBS - they are all here! I trust that you will be faithful in ALL areas during these summer months. Revival fires could break out during June, July & August!
Adam Owens made public his call to the ministry on Sunday, May 23. Scott McCurry & Adam did a wonderful job sharing their testimonies. God is at work in so many people's lives & if we would open our spiritual eyes a little wider, we would see it!
VBS begins in a few short weeks. Be much in prayer for all of our leadership. We will have many children here who need Jesus! Pray that many will be saved!
We have two very important mission trips coming up in the near future. Our young people & college students are going to Kentucky & our adults are going to Kenya. Pray that God will provide much fruit from these two trips!

What is it that Christians 'make' more of than anything or anyone else? I'll tell you bluntly exactly what it is!! EXCUSES!! Christians are pros when it comes to making excuses!
Here's the definition for the word 'excuse' in noun form - "an expression of regret for failure to do something" - "a note of explanation of an absence".
In my years of ministry I have heard some legitimate excuses for not doing something & I've heard some very lame ones! Do you use excuses for not doing the things of God you know you're supposed to do? Let's answer some questions & see!
Do you use excuses for not being faithful? The Bible says, "Be thou faithful unto death..."; "It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful." Are you faithful? Are you faithful in praying? Are you faithful in studying God's Word? Are you faithful in witnessing? Are you faithful in Sunday School? Are you faithful in your giving? Are you faithful in attending our services? Were you faithful in attending the revival services? If not, what is your excuse? In the eyes of God, is it a legitimate excuse or a lame one? God knows & you do too!!
Faithfulness is only one area. We make excuses in other areas as well!! Here's hoping that one day we'll serve our Lord completely & surrender to our Lord completely with NO excuses!!
All because of Jesus,
Pastor Phil

Manley Beasley made a very astounding statement several years ago. He said... "The reason most Christians do NOT experience revival is that they are satisfied without it." I trust that is NOT the case here at PGBC!
"Christiandom" is in desperate need of REVIVAL! Just look at what is happening in homes, churches, & across our land. The culprit is SIN!!! That beloved, is why we are in dire need of spiritual awakening!!
2 Chronicles 7:14 gives us the recipe for revival! I trust that each of us will apply that to our lives so that revival will truly begin in each individual life! "Lord, send a revival & let it begin in me!" Amen!!!
Praying for REVIVAL,
Pastor Phil

Let me begin by asking you a very important questionthat will lead to other soul-searching questions. Remember what James Garner said this past Sunday: "Questions are used by the Holy Spirit to bring about conviction" & they are also used to help us take an honest look at ourselves!
Here's the question: How many "disobedients" does it take in a Christian's life before God gets his/her attention? The Bible is full of commands made by God Almighty intended for you & me. Let's look at a few of them!
In Matthew 22:37 Jesus commands us to "love the Lord thy God..." Do you really love Him? Is He the most important person in your life? You & I show the answer to those questions by the way we live our lives.
In Revelation 2:10 Jesus commands us to "be thou faithful unto death..." Are you faithful? Do you pray faithfully? Do you study the Word of God faithfully? Are you faithful in using your gifts and abilities to bring praise to Jesus? Are you faithful to God's House? Where are you on Sunday & Wednesday nights? Our faithfulness is shown by our lives!
In Malichi 3:10 the Word of God commands, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse (His Church)..." Remember, it is God's tithe - NOT ours! Are you a tither? Do you truly trust God?
In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus commands "Go ye therefore & teach all nations..." Are you a soul winner? When was the last time you told someone about Jesus?
Again I ask, how many "disobedients" does it take in a Christian's life before God gets his/her attention? Is your heart right? I'm afraid that come Judgement Day, many "professing" Christians will never see heaven, only hell & many 'Possessing" Christians will not receive any rewards simply because thier hearts were never made right!!!
Praying for REVIVAL,
Pastor Phil
